Our Story & Mission
Charlie’s Hope was founded by Dawn Kameo, a U.S. Air Force Desert Storm Veteran and retired Firefighter/EMS professional, in memory of her youngest son, Marine Lance Corporal Charles Everett Woods.
Charlie dreamed of becoming a firefighter from the age of six and later joined a Firefighter Explorer program before serving in the United States Marine Corps. On October 28, 2025, just three days before his 22nd birthday, Charlie tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident.
Known for his compassion, humor, integrity, selflessness, and above all, HOPE. Charlie left an impact on everyone around him. Charlie’s Hope carries his legacy forward by supporting Fire, Rescue, and EMS organizations with life-saving training tools and medical education when traditional funding falls short.
